.ms is the country-specific top-level domain (ccTLD) for the British overseas territory of Montserrat . It has existed since March 6, 1997 and is managed by the local company MNI Networks .

Domains can be registered on the second level as well as on the third level under .com.ms , .net.ms , .org.ms , .edu.ms and .gov.ms . Only recognized educational institutions are allowed to reside under .edu.ms , .gov.ms is intended solely for the government of Montserrat. Otherwise there are no special restrictions on the allocation, so that every natural or legal person can register an .ms address. A domain can be between one and 63 characters long, domains with umlauts and other internationalized addresses are currently not possible.

The .ms domain is especially popular in the city of Münster because of the identical license plate in Germany . For example, operates student council of the Westphalian Wilhelms University in its official website under the domain asta.ms . In addition, the e-mail provider WEB.DE offers mail addresses of domains under .ms at approximately hallo.ms or ich.ms .

Microsoft uses some .ms domains for its content delivery network , such as 1drv.ms , gfx.ms or onestore.ms .
