.sy

.sy is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Syria . It has existed since February 20, 1992 and is administered by the National Agency for Network Services (NANS).

history

Due to the civil war in Syria and the sanctions against the country, the top-level domain no longer plays a role internationally. In August 2012 it became known that registrations, in particular by US citizens and companies, could constitute a violation of the sanctions.
