.ve is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Venezuela . It was delegated on March 7, 1991 to the Centro Nacional de Tecnologias de Informacion based in Caracas and is now administered by the Comision Nacional de Telecommunicaciones (CONATEL).
A .ve domain can be between three and 63 characters long and can be ordered by any natural or legal person worldwide. A residence or a branch in the country is not necessary. The allocation is completely automated, but still takes a comparatively long time with up to four days. In addition to alphanumeric characters , special characters have also been supported for some time , but these cannot be used by every domain registrar . The characters available also include the letters commonly used in Spanish.
The top-level domain .ve is one of the first entries that the arbitration of WIPO have accepted. Since April 2001, owners of a trademark or domain have been able to resolve disputes with other people in this way without having to go through expensive and complicated legal proceedings . The ICANN supports the resolution of conflicts in this way for ccTLDs explicitly.
