.vg is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for the British Virgin Islands . It has existed since February 20, 1997 and is managed by the local company Pinebrook Developments . The operations are carried out by a subsidiary of AdamsNames under the name Meridian TLD .

In total, a domain can be between one and 63 characters long and contain only alphanumeric characters . Any natural or legal person can register a .vg address, there is no obligation to reside in the Virgin Islands. The award criteria expressly stipulate that the top-level domain may not be used for the purpose of distributing illegal material.

Others

In the spring of 2013 it became known that the registry was the victim of a hacker attack . The attackers were able to set up a foreign domain name registry for a short time , which, according to official information, had not influenced the resolution of .vg domains.
