The first Badisches Leib-Grenadier Regiment. 109 was an infantry joined the Baden army , in 1871 in the Prussian army opened and after the First World War was dissolved.

history

Margrave Karl Friedrich von Baden established this regiment on March 23, 1803 with two grenadier companies and two battalions of four companies each . In 1806 the grenadier companies left the regimental association. In 1808 six companies were added to each battalion, following the French pattern.

In 1812 a third battalion was formed as a depot ; the regiment was lost in the Russian Empire except for small remnants and was replenished in 1813, again two battalions of six companies each.

In 1847 the regiment was reformed with three battalions of four companies each. As a result of the Baden Revolution , on July 14, 1849, with the exception of the 1st Battalion of the regiment, all Baden troops were declared to have been triggered. In 1850 the Baden regiments were reorganized, this consisted of four companies.

In 1851 a rifle division was introduced to two companies. On October 22, 1852, the regiment was again reorganized and regimental associations established; the I. and VI. Battalion formed the 1st Infantry (Grenadier) Regiment.

On March 24, 1868, the 13th and 14th companies were transferred to the 3rd Infantry Regiment and the half battalions were expanded to four companies. After the war against France , on July 1, 1871, the military convention concluded between Prussia and Baden on November 25, 1870 came into force, according to which the Baden army was absorbed as a contingent in the Prussian army.

On April 1, 1881, the 6th Company was transferred to Infantry Regiment No. 97 , on April 1, 1887, the 8th Company to the 5th Baden Infantry Regiment No. 113, and on April 1, 1897, the 4th Battalion the 8th Baden Infantry Regiment No. 169 surrendered.

On October 2, 1893, an IV (half) battalion was formed.

As a member of the Rheinbund it fought in the Third Coalition War in 1805 against the Austrian Empire , in the Fourth Coalition War in 1806/07 against the Kingdom of Prussia and in the Fifth Coalition War in 1809 again against the Empire of Austria. 1812 took the part Baden in the Russian campaign in 1812 on the Russian campaign in 1812 in part.
