Da Lucas intended to make his Devoting his career solely to the production of documentaries, he paid particular attention to the documentary power of the film at 1: 42.08 , which deals with Lucas' passion, motorsport .

In the film, which has a running time of seven minutes, the racing driver Pete Brock plays the leading role. For Lucas it was the first production with a 16mm film in color.

action

The film follows the extensive test preparations for Pete Brock's racing car, a yellow Lotus 23 , on the Willow Springs race track in Rosamond , California. The engine starts with a roaring noise and Brock begins to do his laps. Intermediate sections of fittings, Brock's hand on the gear stick and the view in the rearview mirror appear again and again. Brock loses control of his machine and "chokes" the engine in a corner. With the help of a skilful film and sound editing, Lucas manages to combine Brock's frustrated scream with a restart of the engine.

Brock continues his test drive and this is followed by shots that were filmed from a subsequent car, as well as recordings from an on-board camera. At the end of the test, a referee's stopwatch is stopped with an exaggerated loud click.
