Annular Bearing Engineering Committee

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Annular Bearing Engineering Committee (ABEC) is a technical committee of the American Bearing Manufacturers Association (ABMA), the association of American ball and roller bearing manufacturers . The ABEC developed the so-called ABEC scale (ANSI / ABMA Standard 20), in which tolerance classes for the production of ball bearings are specified. The corresponding ISO standard is ISO 492.

The tolerance classes on the ABEC scale are identified by the ascending designations ABEC 1, ABEC 3, etc. As the name increases (only odd numbers are used here), the manufacturing tolerances of the corresponding bearings decrease. The general public is primarily familiar with the ABEC scale as a simple quality feature for the ball bearings of waveboards , inline skates , skateboards , kickboards , longboards and fidget spinners .
