ASIS International is an international professional association in the security industry and, with over 38,000 members, is one of the world's largest associations in the security sector.

The association is headquartered in Alexandria in the US state of Virginia and was founded in 1955 as the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS). In 2002 the name was changed to the current one in order to emphasize the international presence. The current president is Christina Duffey.

There are 242 national branches worldwide, so-called chapters.

Goal of the association

ASIS sees its goal in increasing the effectiveness and productivity of security measures. ASIS also aims to emphasize the importance of security management for companies, the media, government bodies and the public. To this end, the association concentrates on the development of educational programs and information materials. In addition to the English-language magazine "Security Management", the association also offers numerous certificates, standards and guidelines on various security topics.

Certifications

ASIS International offers four internationally accredited certification programs:

  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
  • Professional Certified Investigator (PCI)
  • Physical Security Professional (PSP)
  • Associate Protection Professional (APP)

ASIS Germany

In Germany, the association is represented by Chapter 251, which currently has over 130 members. This means that Chapter 251, along with Austria (Chapter 107) and Switzerland (Chapter 160), is one of three national chapters in German-speaking countries. In 2016, the ASIS Germany eV association, based in Rommerskirchen - Oekoven, was founded.
