The Abbelen GmbH is a German company in the food industry based in Tönisvorst . It specializes in the manufacture and sale of convenience products , primarily based on meat, such as meatballs , burgers, schnitzel and chicken nuggets.
Since 2020 Abbelen GmbH has also been producing vegetarian convenience products under the brand "thegoodone" .
Abbelen was founded in 1958. The trained butcher Heinz Abbelen also sold handmade meatballs in the original village shop. In 1969 he founded a meat factory in the Vorst district, which mainly supplied restaurants and snack bars. Today Abbelen GmbH delivers to the major grocery chains in Europe, employs more than 600 people and achieved a turnover of 140 million euros in 2017. Dirk Gloy has been the company's managing director since 2018.
