Saint-Georges Abbey (Rennes)

The Saint-Georges Abbey in Rennes is a former Benedictine convent that was founded by Duke Alain III between 1024 and 1034 . was founded by Brittany for his sister Adèle. The monastery and parts of the city were burned down by King Henry II of England at the end of the 12th century . Until the expansion of the city walls in 1448, the monastery was outside the city.

The abbey church was demolished around 1820. In its place are now the Saint-Georges swimming pool and the Palais Saint-Georges.
