Scrapping campaign for inland shipping from 1969
The inland waterway ship scrapping campaign from 1969 was a program introduced in the Federal Republic of Germany in 1969 to scrap old, uneconomical inland waterway vessels. Sections 32a and 32b of the law on commercial inland waterway transport (BSchVG) in the version of 1969 formed the basis for this . A state-run fund was used to pay scrapping premiums to ship owners for scrapping their ships. The amount of the premium was dependent on the carrying capacity, engine power and type of use of the ships. Since 1989, new shipping space has only been allowed to be created across Europe against the dismantling of old ones.
