The badge "FDJ - Heimatforschung" stood for the interest groups for local research in the Free German Youth . These were organized locally. The 18 mm badge made of non-ferrous metal shows a stylized city wall in dark red, surrounded by two white oak leaves. From the 1950s onwards, the FDJ had various thematic interest groups for which so-called interest group letters were published.
