The Academia Mexicana de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas (AMACC) is the Mexican academy for film art and cinematography . It was officially founded on July 3, 1946 in Mexico City after it had already existed .

The tasks of the AMACC include the support of work and research in the field of film art and science. In this context, the institution awards the Premio Ariel every year . Due to a lack of film productions between 1959 and 1971, the award ceremony was canceled during this period.

From 2006 until his death in 2011, actor Pedro Armendáriz Jr. was President of the Academia.
