Acting Prime Minister

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term acting prime minister is a cabinet member (often in a Commonwealth nation) who serves as prime minister during the period in which the prime minister is incapacitated or unwilling to serve.

In most countries the designation only refers to a one-off role currently being performed. As an exception, the term is also used in Israel for a Knesset member appointed " Acting Prime Minister " , even if the activity to be carried out is never current and only remains a potential or latent possibility of being able to temporarily exercise the office after all .
