Adlerpeso

The eagle peso was a Mexican coin .

Other names were eagle pissers, eagle dollars or eagle talers. In Spanish it was called Peso del aguila and the English name Mexican Eagle Dollar takes the name from the embossed image. This silver coin (Silberpeso or Silberpiaster) of the Republic of Mexico had a fineness of 24.433 g. That corresponded to 10 5/6 dineros, the so-called twelfths.

The eagle peso was similar to the silver priests minted in Spain from 1772 to 1848. In 1870 the style was changed. The eagle peso now received the freedom cap on one side, under which the oath on the constitution was symbolized by the scales of justice. Libra piaster or Spanish pesos de la balanza was now the more appropriate name.
