Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited (AIS) is the largest wireless operator in Thailand with nearly 29 million customers .

AIS was founded on April 24, 1986 by Thaksin Shinawatra as a computer leasing company. In October 1990 the company introduced the 900 MHz cellular service, which it had received as a monopoly license from the Telephone Organization of Thailand (TOT) for 20 years . AIS has been listed in the SET Index on the Thai stock exchange since 1991 . In June 1992, AIS bought Shinawatra Paging. From 2002 to 2006 AIS was led by the future Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra .

AIS is majority owned by the Singaporean state holding Temasek . 40.5% of the shares are held by INTOUCH (formerly Shin Corporation), which has been the Thai subsidiary of Temasek since it was sold by the Shinawatra family in 2006. Another 23.3% is held by Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel), which also belongs to Temasek. 36.2% of the shares are in free float (as of February 2015).
