The Aisetas is a long and winding lake in eastern Lithuania, two-thirds of which is divided into the district of Molėtai and one third to that of Utena . The most important tributary in the west of the lake is the Alné , in the northeast the river Aiseta connects to the lake Kiaunas (0.64 km² area, 5.5 km length), which in turn over the river Kiauna (German: Marder) into the Žeimena , a right tributary of the Neris , drained. In the north, the Aisetas is connected to the Galuonis (2.975 km² area, 5.1 km north-south extension, 18.7 km bank length) via a narrow lake .

The Aisetas is a glacial lake, which was given its present form in the Ice Age by glaciers and meltwater (glacial channels) - the steep bank surrounding it is mostly densely forested. Typical fish for the Aisetas are roach, perch, pike, bream, catfish and eel. The water temperature at the bottom of the lake is a constant 4 to 5 ° C all year round, in midsummer a 5 m thick layer of warmer surface water forms. The eight villages of Alnė, Žvaigždžiakalnis, Saliniškis, Šnieriškės, Pavajuonis, Paeisetė II, Gatakiemis and Ščiurys are distributed around the lake.
