al-Chirrīt ibn Rāshid an-Nādschī
Al-Chirrīt ibn Rāschid an-Nādschī ( Arabic الخريت بن راشد الناجي, DMG al-Ḫirrīt ibn Rāšid an-Nāǧī ; died 658) was a fighter under ʿAlī ibn Abī Tālib and chief of the Banū ʿAbd al-Bait ibn al-Hārith ibn Sama ibn Lu'aiy (often referred to as Banū Nādschiya after ʿAbd al-Bait's mother), which was still right at the time newly converted to Islam, originally Christian tribe. Al-Chirrīt initially fought on Ali's side, but then turned against him and left Islam with more than 300 members of his tribe.
Ali sent Ziyād ibn Chasafa to him and they both met in al-Madā'in . After a short time there was a fight in the course of which the rebels gave up and had to flee to al-Ahwāz . In the further course Ali let the renegades attack again and forced them to flee to the banks of the Persian Gulf. In this decisive battle al-Chirrīt was killed, his companions were taken prisoner and, with a few exceptions, re-adopted Islam after many of them had previously returned to Christianity. These events likely occurred in the first few months of 658.
