The Watan Party ( Arabic حزب الوطن, DMG Ḥizb al-waṭan 'Fatherland Party') is a Salafist party in Egypt that was founded on January 1, 2013. It emerged as a split from the also Salafist Party of Light , founded in 2011 .
The Salafist preacher Hasem Abu Ismail announced that he would form an electoral alliance with the Watan party in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
