Al Tarmia or Tarmiyah ( Arabic الطارمية) is a city in Salah ad-Din Governorate in Iraq . It has 91,284 inhabitants. The population of the sparsely populated farming community consists mainly of Sunnis from various local tribes, including the Dulaimi , Shammar , Al Bu Farraj, and the Al Ddury .

Sunni insurgents were active in Al Tarmia during the Iraq war . In 2006, al-Qaeda took control of the area.
