Albert S. Berry

Albert Seaton Berry (born May 13, 1836 in Fairfield , Campbell County , Kentucky , † January 6, 1908 in Newport , Kentucky) was an American politician .

Berry studied at Miami University in Oxford ( Ohio ) until 1855 and then attended the Cincinnati Law School , where he finished his studies in 1858. Berry has now been accepted into the legal profession and began practicing as a lawyer. In 1859 he became a Newport District Attorney . During the Civil War , Berry served in the Confederate States Army .

In 1870 he became Mayor of Newport and held this office for a total of five terms. He was a member of the Kentucky Senate in 1878 and 1884 . In 1892 Berry was elected as a Democrat in Congress and represented the state of Kentucky in the House of Representatives of the United States from March 4, 1893 to March 3, 1901 . For the congressional elections in 1900 he was no longer nominated as a candidate.

After leaving the House of Representatives, Berry began practicing law again. He later became a judge in the 17th District Court of Kentucky, an office he held from 1905 until his death on January 6, 1908.
