Albert S. Ruddy (born March 28, 1930 ) is a Canadian- born, two - time Oscar - winning film producer and screenwriter .

Life

Albert S. Ruddy was born in Montreal but grew up in New York . He studied chemistry at the City College of New York and then architecture at the University of California . It wasn't until he met Jack L. Warner that he got into film, where he met Marlon Brando, Sr., the father of the legendary Marlon Brando . He came to Warner Brothers at Universal Studios . In 1965 he produced the film Wild Seed , which became his first major feature film. He designed the concept for the television series A Cage Full of Heroes , which ran on CBS from 1965 to 1971. His second film Making It followed in 1970 . But his real triumph didn't come until 1972. He produced the gangster epic The Godfather with Marlon Brando and Al Pacino for Paramount . He won the Oscar for best film in 1973 for it . After more than 30 years, he and Clint Eastwood won this award again in 2005 for the film Million Dollar Baby . He is one of the developers of the Walker, Texas Ranger television series , which ran from 1993 to 2001.
