Alhué is a Chilean town and municipality in the Melipilla province , in the Santiago metropolitan area .

history

The regional economy and the entire Kingdom of Chile favored gold production . The exploitation of gold began in Chile in the 18th century. Many of the mining operations at the time are still in operation today. Alhué was known for the quality of gold. The name Alhue Chedungu, the language of the people, the spirit of the dead. Due to the wealth of the mines, profit initially grew strongly.

The place has a size of 2.6 square kilometers and a density of 1070 residents per square kilometer. In 2017, 2784 residents lived in the village. The last two censuses in 1992 and 2002 counted 2593 inhabitants each.
