Alinco DJ-G5

The Alinco DJ-X10 wideband receiver had the same housing as the DJ-G5

The DJ-G5 is a dual-band handheld radio from Alinco . Both receivers work independently of each other, also in parallel in the same band. It has two VFOs per band and receiver , cross-band full duplex operation is possible. DTMF and CTCSS were standard. Depending on the memory allocation, it has 80 frequency and 16 ringing memories or 100 frequency and one ringing memory. The European version DJ-G5E has a transmission and reception range of 144 to 146,000 MHz (2 m band) or 430 to 440 MHz (70 cm band) in FM mode. In the US version, the transmission and reception range of the two bands has been extended, one of the receivers can also demodulate AM, while the other receiver has two additional VFOs in the 900 MHz range. This version can also work as a crossband repeater . Switching between the two versions is possible by means of a key combination without loss of memory, whereby the memories with assignments that are only programmable in the US version then function at least on the receiving side even in European mode. With the standard NiCd battery or battery pack for 4 mignon cells, the maximum transmission power in the 2-meter band is 1.5 W and in the 70-centimeter band 1 W. When using a 9.6 V battery or an external 12 V - DC voltage, the transmission power is 5 W. Further power levels were 1 W or 0.5 watt. When operating on 12 V DC, a connected battery is charged with around 50 mA. The antenna is connected via a BNC socket. The device has a simple bandscope with which the occupancy of neighboring frequencies or memory channels can be observed. In monoband VFO mode, this works using the second receiver without restricting reception, otherwise reception will be briefly interrupted during the scanning process. Device settings can be transmitted wirelessly to devices of the same construction with a low transmission power. This cloning process takes about 10 minutes. Microphones and speakers are connected via a 2.5 mm or 3.5 mm double jack plug.
