The General Service Regulations for Teachers and Headmasters (ADO) is an administrative regulation on the rights and obligations of North Rhine-Westphalian teachers and school principals. It was first enacted on September 20, 1992 by the Ministry for Schools and Further Education of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia on the basis of Section 128 (1) sentence 2 School Act for the State of North Rhine-Westphalia . On June 18, 2012 (ABl. NRW. P. 384) it was newly issued in a revised version.

The service regulations specify the rights contained in other school and service law provisions. It is therefore an important compilation for the school management as internal rules of procedure for the schools.

The regulation is divided into four parts:

  1. General
  2. Teachers
  3. principal
  4. Teachers with special functions

It applies to teachers in public schools. Independent schools can adopt the General Service Regulations in a modified form by decision of the school authority.
