The Allianz Group in Austria ( Allianz Austria for short ) is a subsidiary of Allianz SE , the world's largest insurance group and one of the largest financial services groups based in Munich. Allianz has been on the market in Austria since 1860, making it one of the most traditional companies in the country. Their offer ranges from insurance to pensions and asset investments. Allianz has 1.1 million customers in Austria and around 3,100 employees.

history

The Austrian alliance was founded in Vienna in 1860 under the name of the Austrian Phoenix. It quickly developed into one of the most important insurance companies in the Danube Monarchy, and was active throughout Europe and even in the United States. The First World War destroyed the traditional infrastructure. The Republic of Austria has become its core business area, with a focus on reinsurance business in the successor states of the Danube Monarchy. In 1938, the German alliance became a shareholder in Phönix for the first time, and the name was changed to Wiener Allianz Versicherungs-AG. After the Second World War , a profound reconstruction of the entire industry was necessary. In 1960 a life insurance company was founded under the name Wiener Allianz Lebensversicherungs-AG. Health insurance has also been offered since 1973. In 1991 the all-inclusive share takeover by the Allianz Group and the replacement of a good 50% stake in Generali took place. There were now three companies belonging to the Allianz Group in Austria, the very two Allianz companies in Vienna (property / casualty, health, life) and Anglo-Elementar Versicherungs-AG, which Allianz bought from RAS in 1977 . This was followed by a consolidation of a structural nature, which finally resulted in a merger in 1997 after the formation of an administrative community. The result is the property / casualty / health insurer Allianz Elementar Versicherungs-AG and the life insurer Allianz Elementar Lebensversicherungs-AG.

The range of services has been gradually expanded to include all segments of financial services, so that today the range of services extends from insurance to pensions and asset management.
