Allonge (metallurgy)

The allonge ( aˈlõːʒə , from the French: appendix) is a truncated cone-shaped condensation vessel for metal vapors (especially zinc and cadmium vapors ) made from sheet steel . It is used in the thermal zinc extraction in the lying muffle, a tubular hollow body with mostly oval cross-section made of refractory material .
