Alumni network

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An alumni network is an association of alumni , originally from former university students. In the meantime, many companies around the world have also started maintaining alumni networks. This is partly due to the change in the definition of alumni . Some English educational institutions use the name Old boy network instead of Alumni association .

Today the term refers more to people who have spent a certain part of their life at a company, school or university and have achieved further levels of their own further education there. Trainees, students, active and former employees belong to the target group for alumni networks.

The life phase model traditionally usually consists of the stages "school, training, job, career in the company". This has long since changed. Recurring in-house or external training phases mean constant new stages of development.

There are many ways of building a functioning and attractive alumni network. The first thing to think about is the form of organization. A separate association or department can take over the tasks. Most of the discussion arises when it comes to assignment to an area. Since a university takes on the training task, it should also take on the commitment task. An affiliation to the highest organizational level is advisable.
