The AmaZulu Football Club , often abbreviated to AmaZulu FC , is a South African football club from Durban , which is also known as AmaZulu Durban in German-speaking countries .
history
The club was founded in the early 1930s under the name Zulu Royal Conquerors . After a game in front of the eyes of the then Zulu King Solomon , he decided to rename the club in Zulu Royals . However, it was not until the 1970s that the club was officially registered under the name Zulu Royals United . In 1971, the club finally moved up to replace the African Wanderers in the National Professional Soccer League . The team immediately dominated the championship and won the title in 1972. In the sign of success, however, the community broke up and the coach and some players left the club, which was henceforth called AmaZulu Football Club .
In 1985, the AmaZulu FC qualified for the newly formed National Soccer League , in which it initially established itself in the top division. Towards the end of the decade, the team slipped into the middle division. In 1995, the club occupied the last non- relegation place before the African Wanderers and Rabali Blackpool and thus qualified for the newly created Premier Division . In the following years, the team established itself in the first division, but took a row only places in the lower midfield.
