The American Iron and Steel Institute ( AISI ; German American Iron and Steel Institute ) is the North American trade association for the steel industry.

The history of AISI and its predecessor organizations can be traced back to 1855. It is therefore one of the oldest industry associations in the USA. Its current structure has existed since 1908.

The association has been awarding the Elbert H. Gary Medal every year since 1927, named after its first president.

In the USA, steel types are designated according to an AISI system.
