Cupid's bow
The cupid bow , synonymously also Kupidobogen called the arcuate boundary line of the upper is vermilion ; this also includes the lower end of the philtrum , which is, so to speak, the "handle" of the bow. The name is based on the similarity in shape to the hunting weapon bow ; Since the lip is an erogenous zone , a connection to the Roman gods Amor - of love - or Cupid , of desire (both the Roman equivalent of the Greek god Eros ) went into the name.
A distinction is made between the shapes of the tapered V-shaped cupido swing arm and the rounded U-shaped cupido arch . With various malformations - for example due to the fetal alcohol syndrome - the Cupid's bow may be missing.
