Germany

Brandenburg

The Brandenburg official director is the main administrative officer and executive organ of a Brandenburg office . As a temporary electoral officer, he is elected for a term of eight years by the office committee, the highest body of the office.

He heads the administration , represents the office and the municipalities belonging to the office, prepares their resolutions and implements them. As head, he is also responsible for the internal organization and all day-to-day administration.

Schleswig-Holstein

In Schleswig-Holstein the official director is the head of official administrations that are run full-time. He is the superior of the entire office administration and - in contrast to the senior administrative officer in voluntary offices - is elected by the office committee. He does not take the outside representation.

Austria

In Austria , Amtsdirektor denotes an official title for civil servants in the general administration in the higher service according to the application group A2, or "B-career path", from salary step 10 in the function groups 3–8. It is the highest official title that a non-academic civil servant can receive. A distinction must be made between the chamber office director (occasionally also general secretary), who, as an academic employee, is head of the chamber of a liberal profession, a chamber of commerce or agriculture, and who is classified as head of an authority in terms of service law.
