Anchor phase

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An anchor phase is a rope on an overhead line mast with an odd number of conductor cables that is not necessary for the transport of electricity , in order to load both mast halves with the same weight and the same tensile force and to avoid a torque on the mast and the mast foundation. In the case of concrete masts in particular, the pigtail, i.e. the tip of the mast on which the traverse was placed, is susceptible to so-called torsional damage. An aerial cable for message transmission can also be used as the anchor phase, but this is not a pronounced anchor phase.
