Instructions for calculating noise protection areas

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The instructions for calculating noise protection areas (AzB) specify the procedure for calculating noise protection areas in accordance with the law on protection against aircraft noise in the version published on October 31, 2007 (Federal Law Gazette I p. 2550).

The calculation is based on the data obtained with the "Instructions for data acquisition on flight operations (AzD)" on the type and scope of the foreseeable flight operations at the airport. In the AzB, this data is referred to as a data acquisition system (DES).

The AzB applies to the following types of airfields:

1. Commercial airports with scheduled or package air travel,

2. Commercial airfields with scheduled or package air travel and with a traffic volume of over 25,000 movements per year; this excludes movements with light aircraft that are used for training purposes only,

3. Military airfields intended for the operation of aircraft with jet engines,

4. Military airfields, which are intended for the operation of aircraft with a maximum take-off mass of more than 20 t, with a traffic volume of over 25,000 movements per year; This excludes movements with light aircraft for training purposes only. In addition, in accordance with Section 4 (8) of the Law on Protection against Aircraft Noise, noise protection areas should also be established for airports other than those mentioned above, if this is required for the protection of the general public. The AzB should also be used for this.
