The Anna University is a state university in Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu . It is one of the leading technical universities in India. The university specializes in engineering, science and technology.

history

Anna University was founded in 1978 to combine various technical colleges in Chennai into one technical university. One of the oldest of these colleges is the College of Engineering, Guindy, founded in 1794. Anna University was named after the politician CN Annadurai (called Anna).

Faculties and institutions

The university is spread over 3 locations: The main campus in the southern part of Chennai consists of the College of Engineering, Guindy, the Alagappa College of Technology, and the School of Architecture and Planning. There is also the campus of the Madras Institute of Technology in Chrompet and the campus in Taramani .
