Labor Minister Saqar Ibrahim Abdalla was also among the dead .

background

In the Somali civil war , the Islamist al-Shabaab militia tried to overthrow Somalia's western-backed government by force. As of 2011, the organization that carried out armed attacks was driven out of Mogadishu and has now lost most of its strongholds. But the organization remains dangerous: it carried out several bomb attacks in Somalia and Kenya. Kenya supports the Somali government, among other things through a contingent at the Mission of the African Union in Somalia (AMISOM).
