Anticlinory (schematic)

An anticlinory or anticline is a large-scale geological structure in the form of a vault. The two wings of the structure fall "apart" as the word implies.

A anticlinorium usually consists of a series of individual folds, which combine to form a dome-shaped structure as well as Dom are called.

The counterpart to an anticlinorium is a synclinorium in the form of an indentation in which the wings "collapse".
