Ara Ketu

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ara Ketu (after araketo from the Yoruba language for "the people of Ketu") is a Brazilian music group from Salvador da Bahia and a representative of Axé music and Sambareggae .

Ara Ketu was founded on March 8, 1980 in the Periperi district of Salvador as a so-called bloco afro and has since taken part regularly in the Salvador Carnival. Over the years, the original large block evolved into a smaller formation that performed the stage appearances and recorded the CDs, of which they each sold millions. Ara Ketu's greatest successes include hits like "Mal Acostumada", "Pipoca", "Mare de Emocao" and "Cheguei Pra Balancar".
