Aratos

Aratos ( Greek  Ἄρατος ) is the name of the following people from ancient Greece:

  • Aratos (Spartans) , legendary leader of the Spartans, who is said to have sent the young soldiers back to Sparta in the 1st Messenian War, in order to attend all women there and thus secure the offspring
  • Aratos von Soloi (* approx. 310 BC; † 245 BC), Greek author and author of the Phainomena , an astronomical didactic poem
  • Aratos of Sikyon (* 271 BC in Sicyon; † 213 BC), statesman in Hellenistic Greece, 16-time strategist of the Achaean League
  • Aratos (strategist) , son of Aratos of Sikyon and federal strategist in 219/8 BC Chr.
