Aristoxenus

Aristoxenus , the younger , is a pseudonym of Johann Mattheson , through which he passed himself off as a kindred spirit with the ancient philosopher and music theorist Aristoxenus . He wrote the following writings under this pseudonym:

  • Valid certificates for the most recent Mathheson-Musical core script (Hamburg 1738)
  • The latest study of the Singspiele (Hamburg 1744)
  • Arestoxeni junioris Phthongologia systematica (Hamburg 1748)
