The Arnold Janssen Church is a Roman Catholic parish church in Goch .

history

The Arnold Janssen parish church was built in 1981 and consecrated in 1982. It is named after Arnold Janssen , born on November 5, 1837, who was canonized on October 5, 2003. He is the founder of the worldwide Order Society of the Divine Word , the Steyler Missionary Sisters and the Steyler Adoration Sisters .

The construction of the church and the foundation of the corresponding congregation go back to a task that Pope Paul VI. on the occasion of the beatification of Arnold Janssen: “You in Goch must always cherish the memory of the greatest missionary of the 19th century. Make sure that he is known. "

architecture

The design of the church comes from the planning community of the architects Johannes Heimbach , Hannes Hermanns and Heinz Wrede . Klos and Kuhn were responsible for the artistic design. In order to underpin the connection to Arnold Janssen, three motifs were frequently used, the square as an expression of the stability and impregnability of the city of God, the rainbow as a sign of the covenant between God and man, and the crystal as an image for the kingdom of God.

The Arnold Janssen Church has two organs. The main organ is with 25 stops on two manuals and a pedal in the front right of the church. It was built in 1985 by the Seifert company. A second small positive from Schmidt has 3 registers on a manual. It was also built in 1985.

Church, churchyard and rectory

The "church area" consists of the actual church, the churchyard and the rectory.

On the one hand, the church itself stands out due to its multifaceted windows. For example, some windows have been designed from pictures that children have designed on biblical themes. On the other hand, the special altar place with altar, cross, tabernacle and ambo as well as the cloister are worth mentioning. The organ was installed in 1985.

In the churchyard there is a wreath of stilts with a fountain in the middle. It itself consists of 16 concrete steles that represent the Steyler religious orders worldwide.
