Article group

An article group is a combination of several articles from the assortment of a company in the trade according to certain properties of the article. These properties basically correspond to those that are used in the compilation of product groups , but are usually much more detailed. A typical hypermarket has z. B. over less than 20 main product groups, but over several hundred article or sub-product groups.

Division into 3 article groups in an industrial company

1. Goal planning

Article / product with very high planning security

  • large batch sizes
  • long best before date (e.g. for food)
  • Packing material lead up to 2 months
  • Customer deliveries must be 100% secured
  • In this way, fluctuations in personnel can be balanced out

2. Synchronous articles

  • new numbers weekly
  • Change of rigid planning every 4 weeks
  • Creation of the rolling plan
  • Stock max. 1 month notice

3. order-related items

only when a customer order is received

  • no stock
  • Delivery times 1–2 months
