The Aso Kujū National Park ( Japanese. 阿蘇 く じ ゅ う 国立 公園 , Aso Kujū Kokuritsu Kōen ) is located on the Japanese island of Kyūshū in the prefectures of Kumamoto and Ōita .
The national park includes the Kujū-san , the highest point on the island, and the Aso volcano , after which the park is named. First it was called Aso National Park ( 阿蘇 国立 公園 , Aso Kokuritsu Kōen ) when it opened in 1934 . In 1986 the name was changed to Aso-Kujū National Park.
