history

The first Augsburg spring exhibition took place in 1948 in some rooms of the civilian Hindenburg barracks on Gögginger Strasse as a showcase for local industry and crafts. Until 1987, the Augsburg spring exhibition had its traditional place in Wittelsbacher Park . From 1951 to 1954, tent halls were built next to what was then the "Ludwigsbau" (since 1972 congress hall and since 2012 congress at the park). Due to a lack of space, afa moved to the southeastern part of the park with its large open space in 1955. In 1988 the new Augsburg exhibition center was opened and the spring exhibition started.
