Side rifle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The side rifle or extra side rifle is a private side weapon of the NCOs without portepee as well as the crews. It was mostly worn with the dress uniform outside of work . It was subject to the service regulations insofar as its basic form had to be similar to the weapon that was also carried on duty. There were several versions. Whoever wanted to carry this sidearm had to procure and pay for it himself.
