Autofocus video workshop

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The autofocus Videowerkstatt eV was founded in 1988 in West Berlin . It produces and distributes documentaries on political and social topics.

history

The roots of the autofocus video workshop lie in the video movement of the late 1970s. Parallel to the emergence of citizens' initiatives, ecology and peace movements, criticism of the reporting in the public and private media in the Federal Republic was formulated. Video and media workshops were created with the aim of creating a counter- public. With their productions they wanted to draw attention to alternative, socially critical social movements and protests, offered them a forum and reported themselves on social developments. The various groups and collectives such as the Medienwerkstatt Freiburg, the Medienpädagogik Zentrum Hamburg e. V. or the Dortmund media center networked nationwide and organized the distribution of their videos together. In the age of the Internet, this approach of democratic use of the medium of film was further developed by numerous video activists .

Movies

Today the autofocus Videowerkstatt eV sells independently produced documentaries on politically and socially relevant topics such as urban development, globalization, women's rights, ecology, migration and social struggles.
