The Avenue Jean Médecin is a road south to north in through the center of Nice leads. Its name has been changed several times historically, today (since 1966) it is named after the long-term mayor Jean Médecin . In the local dialect of Nice it is called Avenguda Jouan-Medecin, consòu de Nissa . Today it is mainly used as a shopping street and is crossed by the new Nice tram (line 1).
history
The street was planned in 1864. In the Second Empire it was called Avenue du Prince-Impérial, from 1870 Avenue de la Gare and from the end of 1918 Avenue de la Victoire. The name after Jean Médecin was made during his tenure by his son and successor in the mayor's office Jacques Médecin . Between 2003 and 2007, the road was rebuilt to expand the new tramway.
