Axial piston motor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Axial piston motors are used both in industrial applications (e.g. heavy machinery construction) and in mobile machines. Usually it is a type of hydraulic motor . You can have constant or variable swallowing volume .

construction

Axial piston motors are constructed in a similar way to axial piston pumps . Inside there is a cylindrical rotating part with axial piston bores (hence the name). Pistons, which are supported in the axial direction on an inclined sliding disk, are inserted into these bores. The rotating part and thus the shaft of the motor begin to turn due to pressure or suction on the individual pistons.

Applications

Travel drives are very common applications. Because of the poor efficiency resulting from the need to cool the hydraulic fluid, they are mainly used for so-called slow drivers , but also for winch drives such as those required for cranes. In the case of axial piston motors, hydraulic power ( volume flow , pressure ) is converted into mechanical power ( torque , speed ).

In the industrial sector, these are mainly used because of the power density and easy controllability.
