Hunger pangs

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bear hunger is the slang term for very hungry. The term is derived from the observation that bears sometimes lick their paws. Because bears can hibernate , it was previously believed that they could suck food from their paws because their paws became covered in milky foam by saliva. The proverb hunger paws arose in the same context .
