Bundling factor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The bundling factor ( distance factor ) is a technical parameter of loudspeakers and microphones .

The bundling factor indicates how much larger the discussion distance of a microphone with a directional characteristic can be compared to that of a microphone with a spherical directional characteristic in order to obtain the same D / R ratio (D = direct sound , R = reflected sound ).

The bundling factor results from the root of the bundling degree :

Microphone bundling ability
Microphone characteristics Degree of bundling γ Bundling factorγ
Bullet 1,000 1,000
Wide cardioid (-9.5) 2.077 1.441
eight 3,000 1.732
kidney 3,000 1.732
Supercardioid 3.732 1,932
Hypercardioid 4,000 2,000
